Preparing for the most stressful call you can receive: pediatric cardiorespiratory arrest
In this episode of the MCHD Paramedic Podcast, the Montgomery County Hospital District EMS service Medical Directors, Dr. Robert Dickson and Dr. Casey Patrick, are joined by MCHD medic Lily Trosclair to discuss an interesting case. This one began with a pediatric cardiorespiratory arrest but fortunately has a happy ending.
Trosclair recounts the call where upon arrival, she found a young child, unconscious, unresponsive, pale, a little cyanotic around the lips, with CPR actively being administered by a family member – bad shape if you consider the pediatric general assessment triangle.
Hear more about how they managed this patient and how you can pregame for the most stressful call you can receive.
